OPERA PAVILION
The multi award-winning, 600-seat Opera Pavilion was designed by architect Robin Snell and was completed in May 2011. It is conceived in the English tradition of a pavilion in the landscape, with the building elevated so that appears to float over the ground, whilst at the same time offering uninterrupted views across The Deer Park, to the Lake and woodland beyond.
The Opera Pavilion, home to Garsington Opera during the May-July opera season, provides a state-of-the-art space for all manner of performances, including concerts, film events, musical performances, ballet, theatre, comedy shows, corporate presentations, company away-days, panel discussions, award ceremonies and product launches.
The stage stretches to over 100 sq m, and has ground-level access backstage for easy movement of sets, equipment and displays. In addition to the auditorium which seats 600, there are 5 private boxes (8 people each) with the opportunity for private dining on the Upper Terrace. Guests can enjoy a pre-or post-event drink at the bar on the Lower Terrace whilst enjoying artworks displayed in the New Gallery.
