El Cavaler de Ginestra

Eduardo Arranz-Bravo

Arranz-Bravo, a native of Barcelona and a distinguished Catalan artist who, alongside his paintings, has worked in bronze since the early 1970s. The work is associated with the surrealist movement in its inspiration and the biomorphism in this bronze’s elongated and exaggerated form illustrate this.

“Arranz-Bravo penetrates the exteriors of his figures, at times literally boring into the inner mechanisms of their physiognomies: capillaries, organs and marrow are exposed. In so doing, he lays bare not only their subconscious minds, but often their very souls as well”– Tomlyn Barnes.

Following its casting in bronze in 2014, the mould was intentionally destroyed. This is a unique sculpture and the only one of its kind in the world.
