Opportunities

We often have exciting opportunities for people looking to become a part of the Wormsley team, either on a full-time basis or as a volunteer. Our current openings are listed below.

Title: Head of Sales, Marketing and Events

Location: The Wormsley Estate, Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire

Reporting to: Estate Manager

WORMSLEY ESTATE
Wormsley is the private estate of the Getty Family and is located just off junction 5 of the M40 at Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire. The Estate can trace its roots back to a first mention in the Doomsday Book of 1196 and since 1597 has been in the possession of only two families. Sir Paul Getty acquired the Estate in 1985 and embarked on a seven-year programme of renovation and improvements bringing it back to life. This included the refurbishment of most of its properties creating some wonderful Chiltern barn conversions alongside major projects such as establishing the Lake and Island in the Deer Park, the laying of the now world-famous Cricket Ground, the building of the Getty Library (with over 10,000 rare books and manuscripts) and re-establishing the two-acre Walled Garden. Since Sir Paul’s death in 2003, a further broadening of the Estate’s activities has included the expansion of the Wormsley Shoot, the creation of the Robin Snell designed 600-seat Opera Pavilion (home of Garsington Opera) and Island Pavilion and the Boundary Room which overlooks the Cricket Ground.

Today Wormsley is home to Mark and Caterina Getty and their wider family; custodians for the next chapter in the evolution of Wormsley. Whilst Sir Paul’s love for cricket and books will always maintain a prominent place at Wormsley, Mark’s passion for Art and Opera can be clearly seen across the estate. The family are focused on ensuring a positive future path for the estate. A part of this is their commitment and investment in a wider sustainability agenda and their desire to see a greater number of people enjoying the estate through the extensive programme of events and activities that makes Wormsley such a vibrant home. See www.wormsley.com for more information.

THE TEAM

The Sales, Marketing and Events team play an important role on the Estate, helping to generate income from events and filming as well as creating and building excellent relationships with the local community and our partners and suppliers. Our relationship with Garsington Opera is particularly important.

The 5-year Commercial Plan developed earlier this year sets out an exciting roadmap that should see our Events’ revenue grow to more than £1m per annum over that period. The extent of this growth and the associated expansion plan requires a dedicated, sales driven team to drive this area forwards.

Currently a team of three people, (including this new full-time role), we work with a number of trusted partners including our marketing consultants, Revelation Marketing Collective and a consultant who specifically helps us to develop our cricketing events and vision.
