Event Security and Public Protection Policy
Last Updated: 15/07/2026
- Introduction and Commitment
Wormsley Estate Limited (collectively, “Wormsley”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) consider the safety and security of our guests, corporate delegates, staff, and contractors to be our highest priority.
Operating a 2,700-acre historic private estate with multiple distinct venues requires a rigorous, coordinated approach to security. This policy outlines our baseline security measures, our compliance with UK public protection legislation, and the strict security expectations we place upon corporate clients and third-party event organisers utilising our estate on a dry-hire basis.
- Estate Access and Visitor Management
Wormsley is a private estate. To maintain a secure environment, we operate strict access control procedures for all daily operations and events.
- Pre-Arranged Access: We seek to keep a strict record of all authorised and pre-arranged visitors to the Wormsley estate. Unscheduled or unverified arrivals would be denied entry.
- Visitor Logging: Event organisers and corporate clients must provide accurate guest and contractor lists in advance. These records—typically including visitors’ names, organisations, and vehicle details—are maintained by our security teams to ensure we can account for all individuals on the estate in the event of an emergency.
- CCTV and Estate Monitoring
To ensure the safety of our visitors, staff, and historic assets, we operate Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on our premises and across key areas of the estate.
- CCTV acts as both a deterrent to unauthorised access and a vital tool for incident management.
- In accordance with our Data Privacy Policy, CCTV recordings are held securely and are routinely deleted on a monthly basis, unless required for an ongoing security investigation or requested by law enforcement.
- Public Protection and Martyn’s Law Compliance
Wormsley is committed to complying fully with the UK’s counter-terrorism legislation, including the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act (commonly known as Martyn’s Law). Because the estate features multiple venues with varying capacities, we operate a tiered security framework based on the specific nature and size of the event:
- Risk Assessments: Corporate clients and their chosen event production companies must submit comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to the events team prior to the event.
- Emergency Procedures: For large-scale private corporate events and festivals, event organisers must work with Wormsley management to establish and communicate clear emergency protocols, including predetermined procedures for Evacuation (moving guests away from an internal threat), Invacuation/Lockdown (securing guests safely indoors from an external threat), and Emergency Communication.
- Security Personnel and Third-Party Contractors
Because Wormsley primarily operates on a dry-hire basis, corporate clients often employ external security and crowd-management companies.
- SIA Licensing: Any third-party security personnel brought onto the estate for entry screening, perimeter control, or crowd management must hold valid and current Security Industry Authority (SIA) licences.
- Contractor Vetting: We expect our corporate clients and their event production partners to ensure their staff and security teams are properly vetted (e.g., to the British Standard BS 7858) before being permitted to operate on the estate.
- Shared Responsibility and Incident Reporting
Security at Wormsley is a collaborative effort. While the estate maintains the physical perimeter and baseline safety protocols, the corporate hirer assumes vicarious liability for the safety, actions, and behaviour of their invited guests and contracted staff during the hire period.
- We operate a zero-tolerance policy toward unacceptable behaviour, illegal drug use, or abuse directed at Wormsley staff. Such actions will result in immediate eviction from the estate.
- All security incidents, near-misses, or suspicious activities must be reported immediately to the Wormsley Estate Office or the designated on-site estate representative.
